busy family weekend..

Ashley arrived Thursday early evening after driving 1400 miles over the course of a day and a half from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California having left Wednesday after short work shift in the morning.  My sister Stacy, Bryan, and their three kids came down from the north in Chowchilla on Thursday night at about 10pm after some mind blowing slow traffic in the Bakersfield area where construction is unending up there.

We all talked for awhile and then all hit the sack as we needed to be on the road the next morning at 6:30ish to head to Sea World for a full day of activity.  We hit the road at about 6:45 and made it to San Diego Sea World parking lot in time to be there for the opening ceremony of raising the flag and the Star Spangled Banner being played. And we walked somewhat using the map and the rest was wandering the circle of the loops hither and yon throughout the park..  We saw a tremendous training program for animals which included a white beluga whale, polar bear, sharks, dolphins, killer whales, sea lions, sea otters, dogs, cats.  We also saw some trained humans in the two stadiums for the Blue Horizon acrobats and the Cirque Del Mar show along the bay..

We arrived at our home at about 12;40 am and our beds felt so good after a long day of driving and walking, but so much fun was had by all of us..

Saturday we all slept in and then we headed off to the beach with the expectation of sunshine and summer time.. and while it was a windless day (unlike Tuesday when it was like being sandblasted but sunny) it was a sweatshirt kind of day, overcast and a bit of sprinkles here and there.. But again, we had a terrific time just hanging out and the "kids" all enjoyed digging in the sand for sand crabs, building sandcastles.. We spent a few hours together, headed home and showered and out to dinner..

someday he'll be a good daddy!

We had a good time as you can see in spite of the weather...  after numerous showers, we went out for dinner, took the dogs for a walk, and then all settled in to watch a movie.. whew and then it was bedtime.

It was so nice having Stacy's family come down to see Ashley and for us to spend just fun times together... family is priceless..
