So I'm destined to be in the living room to work on the computer or watch tv, especially in the summer as my office is warm in the afternoons and I'm having none of that.. But the couches are uncomfortable..
So to Gregs suggestion that we go looking for new couches.. I agreed as I wasn't doing anything of any substance anyway.. We hit LazyBoy first as that is where we bought our leather couches and chair for the den about three years ago. But it wasn't a productive look finding a fabric couch/loveseat/chair as we thought that was what suited either of our likes. Next we went to the Easylife furniture store pretty close to the LazyBoy store and they only had three couches in fabric to choose from and it was take it or leave it, no other fabric colors could be chosen but they were fairly ugly models to start.. It was late and we actually couldn't think of another store to go to at the moment and just assumed that they would close early on a Saturday, which was wrong but I think that by then we were just "done" looking and would take it up another day or holiday weekend...
Sunday after church we went to lunch with Shane and then we headed off to Living Spaces one of those massive furniture stores where if you can't find something, just check your pulse and the prices were good.. We walked and picked up flyers, got lost, kept walking, looked, sat on EVERYTHING to try it out.. We were "looking" for a couch and either a loveseat or a sitting chair with an ottoman. And then Greg says, he'd really like to have a reclining chair (to sleep in really).. so that kind of changes everything as we sit there discussing that idea.. how do you mix it in with a particular fabric chair from another "family" of fabrics etc., did I really like the idea of the recliner that looks like a recliner rather than a formal sitting chair and use an ottoman that can move to be used in front of the couch as well.. Oh brother, it kind of changed the perspective of what we were doing again. So, we kept walking, realizing we were passing hallways that we had been in before (They design these places so that you can't remember where you have been). Just my opinion.
So we check our favorite flyers, make a second round to narrow them down, pick through fabrics that are offered for each one to narrow them even farther or writing that information down on the flyer. Some we just eliminated as we changed our mind of some part of the selection. Since I have Gregs captive attention, I'm being methodical, because when Greg goes shopping he's really only "looking" and it is a process of longevity most of the time. But then we come across a display of couches with recliners in them no matter what the selection of couch, loveseat, loveseat with a center counsel and cup holders and or a recliner chair. EUREKA I have his attention and we have found our furniture.. Now these particular chairs looks like chairs and not cheap furniture with recliners as part of them. I loved them. By now it seemed like everyone of the 300 associates in a blue shirt had walked by us at some point and asked if we needed any help.. NO, we're just looking and thank you.. They don't work on commission so they are just being helpful and keep moving on if your not ready to ask a question.. I liked this.
By the measurements of the furniture we're only sure of what we have and are kind of perplexed with going home to measure as to whether I first choices in these pieces of furniture. So we head home with the measurements, measure them out, scratch our heads, rearrange our own furniture to see if a couch and a loveseat is what we want, kind of filled the room, or maybe a couch and recliner chair, well that is still filling the room, so maybe we need to consider a loveseat and a recliner.. but would that look to "light" on furniture.. My treadmill is in this room and a hutch, so we decide on a loveseat and a recliner.. as the room is really for the main folks in the house and we will use chairs for when we might have family over. I actually got Greg to head back to the store, to look it over one more time and possibly just order it (two weeks lead time)..
No kidding we got back to the store (with a tape measure this time) verified for his comfort level that the measurement were right and then we got one of those blue shirted associates to take our order, This is one of the miracles of all time to get a Symens male to actually go from "looking" to "shopping" to "buying" in the course of one day.. I am amazed, and thankful.
Now imagine these white fake leather pieces are actually "heavenly Olive" and in a fabric..
This is how we both felt during the search and love our new chairs...
