Shock this afternoon after a trip to Target... This year I didn't really apparently "think" out in detail my total shopping needs. I completely forgot that we were going up north after Christmas and would like to bring a gift to Brayden and not just money as the other nieces and nephew are getting.. and then the poor little guy broke his leg in two places on the Tibia bone and won't be able to walk on it for weeks and be stuck sitting. So this afternoon I headed to Target thinking that finding something like an etch a sketch for him or a movie or two to do while "sitting" for the next three weeks unable to walk wouldn't be so difficult. But the post Christmas toy aisle and the movie section looked they had been burglarized... there was simply only a few things here and there left on any of the shelves.. Holy moly! Tonight I suppose I could head to Toys R Us and check out there supply of kid things but than again, I could always order it online and send it to their address.. No end to the supply online I would hope. I can get a better feel for what they think he might be into now that he's a sitter vs a runner.. Because I believe that had I gotten him something before Christmas it would have been for his "running self" and would just haunt him now.. Grandma Dykstra for Christmas got him a trampoline with a net around it.. that will stay in the box according to Stacy (at his rate of bone breaking, maybe permanently)
When I left work this afternoon, I stopped at that Citadel outlet mall not to far from work and I intended to exchange, but had to return the two Levi's 514 I had gotten for Greg.. waist size he actually needed they were out of stock on.. And while they swore they were having a 50% off sale, the prices they had on their 501's were outrageously expensive at that end price, so I passed.. I'll wait for their "I'm desperate for a spring sale" where they will actually mark it down to a reasonable price or I'll find them at Kohls with a coupon..
Shane and Greg are heading out the door to go to Walmart on a toy run for Brayden, most likely a nerf gun for him to shoot his sisters with.. and a couple of movies.. Stacy said for now he's content to sit on the futon playing with his dinosaurs and watching a movie.. He has a red cast all the way up his leg. He still doesn't want anyone touching his leg. His immediate status is that he's not to walk on it for 3 weeks til Janurary 22 when he goes back to the Dr. It will be a bit easy as long as he has pain or remembers the intense pain his leg caused him at the beginning while uncasted. But once that wears off, it will be hard to keep a 2.5 yr old down whose generally a jumping bean and energizer bunny of energy. This poor little guy now has to understand, no standing, no walking let alone no running and no jumping when that is what he loves to do.. poor little guy...
Tomorrow we will head for the weekend to Lisa's as the VanEssen parents are in CA, and are up there. . But my work day which might start early, won't end very early as I have to work until most likely 2pm and then drive home and pull our stuff together, if I don't get it done tonight.. Depending on what time we get out of town we might stop at Stacy's for the night unless we head up to arrive late late late.. With Shane and Greg to drive, we can make it, I don't know if that's what we want to do. I can sometimes under estimate what I need to take when packing the bathroom bag.. so I'll wrap this up and head upstairs to make sure I don't forget the stuff I did with the last road trip.
