First day back on the blog in a long time.. It has been a bit of a busy streak and lack of laptop availability to keep up the blog. Today is a rainy day and so it has become a movie afternoon and a blog kind of day.. I' ve rented "Broken City" with Mark Wahlberg, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Russell Crowe. One of those suspenseful drama movies and was a good one, I am a huge Mark Wahlberg fan , The other movie I rented is "The Words" with Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Dennis Quaid and Jeremy Irons is the next one.. dinner is chicken fillets marinated in BBQ sauce, baby red potatoes and carrots... yummy end to the day.
I have spent plenty of time over the last week with the springtime weather outside digging in and through my flowerbeds and potted plants to continue sprucing up with color. I started with the removal of two overgrown and unused rosemary bushes.. I only managed to trim and dig one out over two days and then Shane stepped up the second day and rescued me by putting a shovel to it and just lifting it out of the ground lickety split, no effort... which is so lucky for me as I was losing my back strength and motivation with the effort to actually finish out what I had started.. So yes, Shane you were my hero that afternoon when you walked up after a full day of work from your truck on the street, and said "hey mom can I help you with something"? It was then that the fun part of spring planting began with the mixing of the soil with potting mix using a shovel.
The 35 colorful plants were unloaded from the car, chosen at H&H nursery in just a matter of a few minutes. A spread of a few Hydrangeas, dozens of daisies in deep violet, lilac and yellow along with the gerber daisies were spread out amongst the front line of the flower bed. Lining them up to surround the red rose tree, and the existing something or other that is 5ft high with lilac blooms on it. I love horticulture but really have no idea of plants to memory... I just enjoy them.. The next planting day will be to plant some additional hummingbird attracting plants. I have them picked out, they will look terrific in the oversized ceramic pots along the driveway.
Well, as the movie "The Words" comes to an end, it too was a good movie. It has a certain amount of starts and stops of present, flashbacks and narrative.. I didn't particularly care for the clay Hammond character (Dennis Quaid) who just appears in the movie along with the young girl (Olivia Wilde) he picks up along the way.. That part could have been left out and had a narrator of some other chosen to bring the story together.. Good for a rental and yet so glad didn't pay to see it in the theatre.
Well, what a relaxing day it has been after work... thanks for joining me.. until the next time..
